A European ambition: Culture in the heart of rural areas
Even
if Culture still has its original
vocation of education and stimulation
of
sensibility and curiosity, it also
favours the creation of social links,
participates in the construction of a local, national and European
identity and contributes to the attractivity
of the territories.
Moreover, a large variety of material
and immaterial cultural heritage (historical buildings, works of art, music,
dance, know how, celebrations and rituals) are located in rural areas. Besides
these resources are exploited by tourism, which is an important factor in the
economic development of these areas.
During the Saturday morning we would like to discuss with the inhabitants of the department Côtes d’Armor the issue of regional identity and European citizenship: how can we be at the same time Breton, French and European? Are these three contradictory elements or can they coexist in the creation of a new European citizenship? Saturday afternoon will be the occasion to discover the cultural resources and the artistic dynamism of the Côtes d’Armor County: visit of he Roche Jagu estate, its park and the temporary exhibition in the castle, "Lumière sur la Couleur" and the performance of a modern circus company of the Côte d’Armor County, le P'tit Cirk.
